René Peters: 'The North Sea is the new energy powerhouse for Northwest Europe'

At the climate conference COP26 in Glasgow, a contribution of the North Sea Energy program was given at the Technology Driving Transition side event organized by our member Net Zero Technology Centre. René Peters of TNO contributed in the panel discussion on 2-3 November stressing the value of offshore system integration to accelerate the transition of the North Sea from an oil and gas basin towards a new energy powerhouse for Northwest Europe. Best practices on accelerating transition in traditional oil and gas regions were shared from regions around the world including Brazil, US, Australia and Canada. Following COP26, 11 institutes around the world have taken up the initiative to create a global perspective on Technology Priorities for a Net Zero Integrated Energy System, which will be presented at the next COP27 in Egypt in 2022.
